Meeting Space

Our past normal meeting time and space at the Dublin Library has been taken by a reading program every Wednesdays and Thursdays all year.  We therefore will not be able to utilize that space.
We are currently in the process of locking down a meeting location for the remainder of the year.

Our September 13th meeting will be at:

Northwest Library
2280 Hard Road - just East of Sawmill Rd.
Columbus, OH 43235

September 13th - DAAL Meeting - What to expect

In our first meeting the first hour will be devoted to DAAL information and overview.  The second hour we have a wonderful guest speaker Eric Marlow.

Guest Speaker - Eric Marlow

Visual Arts (Painting, Sculpture, Jewelry, Installation)

My Artistic Work:

My current work is inspired by our inseparable connection to the natural world. I look forward to sharing my work through slide show presentations, workshops and demonstrations. I have taught at schools, recreation centers, senior centers, and the MRDD community as well as at the Ohio School for the Blind. I have traveled in Europe, and Central America where I have exhibited my work and conducted workshops. I have recently designed a “Solar Furnace” to melt and cast metals using only the power of the sun.

My Training and Professional Experience:

I have been a practicing artist for over 45 years. I received my BFA from Ohio State University and taught beginning drawing and sculpture while in graduate school there. I was also trained as a machinist while serving in the US military. I sell my work at craft shows, and through the Columbus Museum of Art and Ohio Craft Museum. I am currently an artist with the Greater Columbus Arts Council, Artist in Schools Program and The Ohio Arts Council, Artist in Residency Programs.

Dublin Art Fair

July 6th 5 – 9 PM

July 7th 10 AM – 8 PM

The 5th annual Dublin Art Fair will be here shortly! How can you help as a member? There are many things that need to be done to put on a Fair of this size. The Fair has steadily been growing year by year, and this year we are expecting a HUGE increase in traffic because of the Arthritis Foundation’s Car Show so close. Even though our Art League is not managing the art fair, we are hosting it as a league. Let’s step up and show our presence!

How can you help specifically? Send e-mails to invite friends. Pass out postcards to neighbors! We already have a committee who has been helping to plan publicity, logistics with the City, coordinating efforts with our professional manager, Grand Scheme Productions, and setting up the 20’ x 40’ tent for the League artists. The artists involved in the 20’ x 40’ tent have been asked to set up their artwork between 11:00 AM and noon on Friday, July 6th in order to assist the incoming artists, help get signage out, direct artists and their vehicles to their sites etc. prior to the 5 PM start time.

The rest of our league can help in very crucial ways. There is a volunteer sign up sheet online at this link www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0F4AABA92CA57-dublin where you can sign up for a three hour shift. The tent artists cannot do the volunteer work while they are “being artists” during the show. You can be our helpers in various capacities such as: directing guests and artists, passing out maps of the Fair, showing where the Trolley stops and restrooms are, passing out water to artists, helping replace trash liners in the trash boxes provided for free from Krogers, setting up and taking down chairs in the hospitality sections, “art sitting“ for artists to give them a break etc. Sandy Libertini will be able to direct you to what needs to be done during your shift. You just need to show up.

The online sign up will remind you two days before your shift by e-mail of your time(s). We are asking for the shifts to be mostly adults, but kids 14 and older will be considered an adult volunteer and will be given responsibilities too. We have funds set aside to “pay” for help to non-profit organizations if they want to use this as a fund-raiser. We will pay $8.00 an hour to their organization after their shift has been confirmed. We have a cap of $500.00 to offer for this. We are preferring OUR OWN MEMBERS to be there first – front and center with volunteer T-shirts on to show our commitment to having this event. Will you consider taking a shift? You can invite friends and neighbors to help too. Funds will only be paid to clubs or organizations though. We need that contact information too.

We also have TONS of beautiful cards and posters to promote the Fair. Please contact me to pick up as many as you’d like to pass out. Thanks in advance – and remember – our Fair was voted by City Scene Magazine readers as “Best Suburban Art Fair”. Let’s keep it that way for good reason!!! Yay Dublin! Check out the website for the most recent information and send it to friends www.dublinartfair.org
