Weather Policy for the Plein Air Paint Out

Weather Policy for the Paint Out

The Dublin Paint Out is this Saturday, May 16, 2015 and it looks like it may be stormy (both on Saturday AND Sunday, which is our rain date). Soooo, here is the weather policy we'll apply.

~ If it's just raining: we are still on. Business as planned. Most businesses with porches are very welcoming to artists and will let you paint under their porch or tent. Just make sure you don't block their traffic (and asking first sounds like a great idea too J)

~If the thunderstorm is expected for the afternoon: we are still on. You can register starting at 9 am, and that will give most artists enough time to finish a painting. When in doubt, paint small. Small is good.

~If the thunderstorm is in the morning, we may have to reschedule. However since Sunday is also a thunder-stormy day, we'll play it by ear and decide as we get closer.

Also, as a reminder, rules to participate in the plein air contest:

·      All artists must register between 9:00 and noon at the tent at 55 S. High St, Dublin.

·         They must show a blank surface on which they will work so it can be stamped on the back.

·         Completed but UNSIGNED work should be brought back to the registration table before 3 pm.

·         Work must have a frame or painted (dry!) edges with wire to hang.

·         We will display all entries at the Library at 75 N. High St.

·         Pick up day is May 29 from 4-6 pm.

·         The juror Joseph Lombardo will determine Best of show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners - cash prizes are $200, $100, $75, and $50 respectively - and two honorable mentions.

The top four entries will be featured for the month of June at Terra Gallery, located at 36 N. High St, Dublin
